Miguel Ángel Salgado Fernández was born 22 October, 1975 in As Neves, Galicia. He is a Spanish Footballer, who currently plays in the right defender position for Real Madrid at Spain. He is known for his combative tackling and attacking play. He began his career in 1994, playing his hometown team, Celta Vigo. In 1999, Salgado was signed by Real Madrid for €11,000,000. Salgado helped Real lift the Champions League trophy in both 2000 and 2002, as well as two La Liga titles and, in 2002, the Intercontinental Cup.
Salgado has been capped 53 times for Spain and was part of their EURO 2000 and World Cup 2006 squads, but missed out on the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Salgado is also part of the Galician Team.
